देवी सिद्धिदात्री का जन्म और कथा

पौराणिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार, जब सृष्टि का आरंभ हुआ, तब चारों ओर केवल अंधकार और शून्यता थी। उस समय आदिशक्ति का प्राकट्य हुआ। उन्होंने ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और महेश को उत्पन्न किया, ताकि वे सृष्टि की रचना, पालन और संहार का कार्य संभाल सकें। परंतु उस समय महादेव यानी भगवान शिव अर्धनारीश्वर रूप में थे – अर्थात आधे शरीर में पुरुष और आधे में स्त्री।

महादेव ने सृष्टि के कार्यों के लिए शक्ति से प्रार्थना की, तब आदिशक्ति ने सिद्धिदात्री रूप में प्रकट होकर शिव को सभी आठ प्रमुख सिद्धियाँ प्रदान कीं – अणिमा, महिमा, गरिमा, लघिमा, प्राप्ति, प्राकाम्य, ईशित्व और वशित्व। इसके बाद शिव पूर्णरूप से पुरुष रूप में आए और सृष्टि का संतुलन स्थापित हुआ।

देवी का स्वरूप

देवी सिद्धिदात्री का स्वरूप अत्यंत शांत, करुणामयी और दिव्य होता है। वे कमल के फूल या सिंह पर विराजमान होती हैं। उनके चार हाथ होते हैं – जिनमें वे चक्र, गदा, शंख और कमल धारण करती हैं। उनका वाहन सिंह है, परंतु कई मान्यताओं में वे कमल पर विराजमान बताई जाती हैं।

सिद्धिदात्री का आध्यात्मिक महत्व

सिद्धिदात्री केवल सिद्धियाँ ही नहीं देतीं, बल्कि अपने भक्तों को आत्मज्ञान और मोक्ष की ओर भी ले जाती हैं। वे माया से पार कराने वाली देवी हैं। माना जाता है कि उनकी कृपा से साधक अपने भीतर की सभी बाधाओं को पार कर अंततः परमात्मा से एकाकार हो जाता है।

 Mahadev prayed to Shakti for the works of creation, Adishakti gave Shiva eight major Siddhis in the form of Siddhidatri - Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitva and Vashitva. After this Shiva came in full male form and the balance of creation was established.

Goddess Siddhidatri's appearance is extremely calm, compassionate and divine. She is like a lotus flower or a lion. She has four hands - which include chakra, mace, conch and lotus. Her vehicle is lion, but in many catalogs she is described as sitting on a lotus.
