भगवान गणेश, हाथी के सिर वाले देवता, हिंदू धर्म में सबसे अधिक पूजनीय देवताओं में से एक हैं। विघ्नहर्ता (बाधाओं को दूर करने वाले) के रूप में जाने जाने वाले, किसी भी नए उद्यम की शुरुआत से पहले उनकी पूजा की जाती है। उनकी बुद्धि, बुद्धिमत्ता और परोपकार उन्हें भक्तों के बीच पसंदीदा बनाते हैं। इस लेख में, हम उनकी जन्म कथा, दिव्य उद्देश्यों और उनके द्वारा किए गए कुछ चमत्कारी कार्यों का पता लगाएंगे।

भगवान गणेश की जन्म कथा

हिंदू पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, देवी पार्वती ने अपने स्नान के लिए इस्तेमाल की जाने वाली हल्दी के लेप से गणेश की रचना की। उन्होंने एक आकृति बनाई और उसमें प्राण फूंक दिए, और उन्हें स्नान करते समय प्रवेश द्वार की रखवाली करने का निर्देश दिया।

इस बीच, पार्वती के पति भगवान शिव दरवाजे पर पहुंचे और अंदर जाने की कोशिश की। हालाँकि, शिव की पहचान से अनजान गणेश ने उन्हें रोक दिया। छोटे लड़के की अवज्ञा से क्रोधित होकर, शिव ने उसे मार गिराया और उसका सिर काट दिया।

 जब पार्वती ने यह देखा, तो वह दुखी हो गईं और उन्होंने मांग की कि उनके बेटे को वापस जीवित किया जाए। शिव को अपनी गलती का एहसास हुआ, उन्होंने अपने सेवकों को आदेश दिया कि वे सबसे पहले जिस जीव से मिलें उसका सिर ढूंढें। वे एक हाथी का सिर लेकर लौटे, जिसे शिव ने गणेश के शरीर पर लगाया और उन्हें पुनर्जीवित किया। इस प्रकार, भगवान गणेश का पुनर्जन्म हुआ, और देवताओं ने उन्हें आशीर्वाद दिया, जिससे वे शिव की दिव्य सेना के नेता बन गए - इसलिए उनका नाम गणपति (गणों का नेता) पड़ा।

भगवान गणेश के अस्तित्व का उद्देश्य

भगवान गणेश की दिव्य भूमिका जीवन के विभिन्न पहलुओं तक फैली हुई है। उनके कुछ प्रमुख उद्देश्यों में शामिल हैं:

बाधाओं को दूर करने वाले (विघ्नहर्ता): भक्त किसी भी महत्वपूर्ण कार्य को शुरू करने से पहले गणेश की प्रार्थना करते हैं, चुनौतियों पर काबू पाने के लिए उनका आशीर्वाद मांगते हैं।

बुद्धि के देवता:

गणेश अपने भक्तों को सही मार्ग पर बीच की दूरियों को पाटते हैं, जिससे शांति और समृद्धि सुनिश्चित होती है।

भगवान गणेश के चमत्कार और किंवदंतियाँ

1. महाभारत लिखना

भगवान गणेश की सबसे प्रसिद्ध किंवदंतियों में से एक यह है कि वे महाभारत के लेखक कैसे बने। महाकाव्य को लिखने के लिए योग्य लेखक की तलाश में ऋषि व्यास ने इस कार्य के लिए गणेश को चुना। हालाँकि, गणेश ने एक शर्त रखी कि व्यास को बिना रुके लगातार पाठ करना होगा। बदले में व्यास ने कहा कि गणेश को हर श्लोक को लिखने से पहले उसे समझना होगा। इससे यह सुनिश्चित हुआ कि व्यास के पास रचना करने का समय था, जबकि गणेश ने अपनी दिव्य बुद्धि का प्रदर्शन किया। इस प्रकार महाभारत, जो सबसे महान महाकाव्यों में से एक है, भगवान गणेश के हाथों से लिखा गया था।

 2. कुबेर को विनम्रता का पाठ पढ़ाना

धन के देवता कुबेर ने एक बार भगवान शिव और देवी पार्वती को अपनी संपत्ति दिखाने के लिए एक भव्य भोज के लिए आमंत्रित किया। इसके बजाय, उन्होंने युवा गणेश को भेजा। अपनी दिव्य भूख से गणेश ने कुबेर के महल में सब कुछ खा लिया, जिससे वह भयभीत हो गया। जब कुबेर ने मदद के लिए विनती की, तो भगवान शिव ने उन्हें अहंकार के बजाय विनम्रता और भक्ति के साथ गणेश की सेवा करने की सलाह दी। प्रेम से भोजन का एक साधारण कटोरा पेश करते हुए, कुबेर ने गणेश की भूख को संतुष्ट होते देखा। इस चमत्कार ने कुबेर को भौतिक धन पर विनम्रता का महत्व सिखाया।

3. विश्व का चक्कर प्रतियोगिता: शक्ति पर बुद्धि

एक बार, शंकर जी ने पार्वती से पूछा की अपने किस पुत्र का विवाह सर्वप्रथम करना उचित होगा। इस पर पार्वती ने कहा कि इसके लिए दोनों को अपनी योग्यता और श्रेष्ठता साबित करनी होगी। शंकर जी को पार्वती का यह विचार पसंद आया। कार्तिकेय और गणेश से कहा गया कि वे दोनों पृथ्वी की परिक्रमा करें और परिक्रमा करके सर्वप्रथम आने वाले को श्रेष्ठ माना जाएगा। कार्तिकेय, एक योद्धा होने के नाते, तेजी से अपने मोर पर सवार हुए और पृथ्वी के चारों ओर यात्रा पर निकल पड़े। हालाँकि, गणेश ने शांति से अपने माता-पिता के चारों ओर घूमते हुए घोषणा की कि वे उनकी पूरी दुनिया हैं। उनकी बुद्धि से प्रसन्न होकर, उन्होंने  सर्वप्रथम भगवान गणेश की शादी रिद्धि और सिद्धि से किया, जिससे यह साबित हुआ कि बुद्धि और भक्ति शारीरिक शक्ति पर विजय पाती है।

4. चंद्रमा के अभिमान को पुनर्जीवित करना

एक रात, गणेश एक भव्य भोज के बाद घर लौट रहे थे, जब चंद्रमा (चंद्र) उनके बड़े पेट पर हंसे। क्रोधित होकर, गणेश ने चंद्रमा को श्राप दिया, जिससे वह आकाश से गायब हो गया। जब देवताओं ने दया की याचना की, तो गणेश ने अपने श्राप को नरम कर दिया, जिससे चंद्रमा फिर से प्रकट हुआ, लेकिन चरणों के साथ, जो बताता है कि चंद्रमा क्यों बढ़ता और घटता है।

The Divine Deity Who Removes Obstacles

Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed god, is one of the most revered deities in Hinduism. Known as Vighnaharta (remover of obstacles), he is worshipped before the start of any new venture. His wisdom, intelligence, and benevolence make him a favorite among devotees. In this article, we will explore his birth story, divine purposes, and some of the miraculous deeds he has performed.

Birth Story of Lord Ganesha

According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha from the turmeric paste she used for her bath. She created a figure and breathed life into it, and instructed him to guard the entrance while she bathed.

Meanwhile, Lord Shiva, Parvati's husband, arrived at the door and tried to enter. However, Ganesha, unaware of Shiva's identity, stopped him. Enraged by the little boy's defiance, Shiva struck him down and beheaded him.

 When Parvati saw this, she became sad and demanded that her son be brought back to life. Shiva, realizing his mistake, ordered his servants to find the head of the first creature they met. They returned with the head of an elephant, which Shiva attached to Ganesha's body and revived him. Thus, Lord Ganesha was reborn, and the gods blessed him, making him the leader of Shiva's divine army - hence his name Ganapati (leader of the Ganas).

The purpose of Lord Ganesha's existence

Lord Ganesha's divine role extends to various aspects of life. Some of his major purposes include:

Remover of obstacles (Vighnaharta): Devotees pray to Ganesha before starting any important task, seeking his blessings to overcome challenges.

God of wisdom:

He is the symbol of wisdom, knowledge, and learning, which makes him the patron deity of students and scholars.

 Protector of Dharma:

Ganesha bridges the gaps between his devotees by guiding them on the right path, ensuring peace and prosperity.

Miracles and Legends of Lord Ganesha

1. Writing the Mahabharata

One of the most famous legends of Lord Ganesha is how he became the author of the Mahabharata. Sage Vyasa, in search of a worthy author to write the epic, chose Ganesha for the task. However, Ganesha laid down a condition that Vyasa must recite it continuously without pausing. Vyasa in return said that Ganesha must understand every shloka before writing it down. This ensured that Vyasa had time to compose while Ganesha displayed his divine wisdom. Thus the Mahabharata, one of the greatest epics, was written by the hands of Lord Ganesha.

2. Teaching Kubera a lesson in humility

Kubera, the god of wealth, once invited Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati to a lavish banquet to show off his wealth. Instead, they sent young Ganesha.  With his divine hunger, Ganesha devoured everything in Kubera's palace, leaving him terrified. When Kubera pleaded for help, Lord Shiva advised him to serve Ganesha with humility and devotion instead of arrogance. Offering a simple bowl of food with love, Kubera saw Ganesha's hunger satisfied. This miracle taught Kubera the importance of humility over material wealth.

3. Circumambulation Contest: Wisdom over Power

Once, Shankar Ji asked Parvati which of her sons would be the best to marry first. Parvati said that for this both of them would have to prove their worth and superiority. Shankar Ji liked Parvati's idea. Kartikeya and Ganesha were asked to both circumambulate the earth and the one who comes first after circumambulating would be considered superior. Kartikeya, being a warrior, swiftly mounted his peacock and set out on a journey around the earth. Ganesha, however, calmly circumambulated his parents and declared that they were his whole world.  Pleased with his wisdom, they first married Lord Ganesha to Riddhi and Siddhi, proving that intelligence and devotion triumph over physical strength.

4. Reviving the Pride of the Moon

One night, Ganesha was returning home after a lavish feast when the moon (Chandra) laughed at his big belly. Angered, Ganesha cursed the moon, causing it to disappear from the sky. When the gods pleaded for mercy, Ganesha softened his curse, causing the moon to reappear, but with phases, which explains why the moon waxes and wanes.

Lord Ganesha is much more than an elephant-headed deity; he represents wisdom, prosperity, and overcoming obstacles. His birth, miracles, and divine purpose serve as lessons for humanity, teaching humility, wisdom, and devotion. His stories continue to inspire millions, making him one of the most beloved deities in Hindu culture.
