जून माह में सूर्य कर्क रेखा पर सीधा चमकता है इस कारण सारे उत्तरी गोलार्ध में जुलाई का महीना गर्मी का एवं दक्षिणी गोलार्ध में सर्दी का रहता है उत्तरी गोलार्ध में महाद्वीपों के भीतरी भागो एवं उसने मरुस्थल ओ पर सबसे ऊंचे तापमान रहते हैं औसत तापमान विश्वत रेखा पर 27°c के आसपास एवं कर्क रेखा के निकट 35°c से 40°c के मध्य रहते हैं । यहां पर उच्चतम तापमान अजी जिया लीबिया में 58 °c तक अंकित किए गए हैं इसी प्रकार जो को बाबाद पाकिस्तान में 57 °c तक अंकित किए जा चुके हैं इस समय महाद्वीपों पर समताप रेखाएं दूर-दूर एवं विश्वत रेखाएं की ओर झुकाव के लिए होती है दक्षिणी गोलार्ध में समताप रेखाएं अक्षांश के लगभग समांतर ही चलती हैं विश्वत रेखा से 50 °c दक्षिण अक्षांश तक समताप रेखाएं दूर दूर होती हैं अर्थात सर्दियों में दक्षिणी गोलार्ध में महाद्वीपों के तापमान तेजी से नहीं गिरते इस समय 10 °c समताप रेखा भी 50 अक्षांश के निकट से गुजरती है इसके दक्षिण भाग में बर्फ से ढके अंटार्कटिका महाद्वीप के विस्तार के कारण तापमान तेजी से गिरते हैं एवं समताप रेखाएं पास पास होती है इस प्रकार जनवरी में भूतल पर तापमान की दशाएं जुलाई की तुलना में लगभग उल्टी रहती हैं।
